POLITICO seeks an ambitious, motivated Programmatic Business Development Manager to join our dynamic and growing Audience Solutions team. The Manager will be focused on building POLITICO’s programmatic business. The Manager will leverage a deep understanding of POLITICO’s audience and value proposition to provide thoughtful, creative and consequential opportunities for brands to engage with our audience. The Manager must be entrepreneurial in spirit with the ability to craft insightful solutions as we problem solve for our clients. Candidate must have a firm understanding of the programmatic ecosystem and advertising market trends.

What You’ll Do…
  • Grow new and existing programmatic revenue across brands, agencies, exchanges, trading desks and DSPs
  • Analyze bid data to discover and identify partnership opportunities
  • Develop and manage strategic relationships within your sales territory
  • Interface with operations and sales team members to continually improve programmatic offerings
  • Respond to RFPs with thoughtful, creative solutions
  • Design and build sales materials
  • Keep abreast of rapidly-evolving industry trends
  • Serve as programmatic expert for direct sales teams in pitch meetings, on calls and via email
  • Understand, grow and report on your sales pipeline
  • Continue to embody the successful brand presence of POLITICO in the market

  • BA/BS degree required
  • 1-2 years digital sales experience, or 3-4 years digital media planning/ operations experience
  • Solid understanding of the programmatic landscape across the demand and supply network including DSPs, SSPs, Exchanges, PMPs, and Programmatic Guaranteed
  • An ideal candidate will have a familiarity with Google’s DoubleClick suite
  • Communication Skills: excellent oral and written communication skills to be used in presentations and written memos
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and Keynote/PowerPoint to be used in presentations and written memos
  • Ability to project manage, prioritize, multitask and work independently
  • Candidate must be comfortable presenting in front of large groups and high-level executives
  • Strong attention to detail
Ideally, you’ll also bring:
  • A willingness to learn about new technologies, products and industry trends
  • Familiarity with major SSPs/ Exchanges such as AdX, AppNexus, OpenX, Rubicon or PubMatic
  • Curiosity and interest in fast-changing publisher monetization strategies and how news is funded
